    Kayehan Sanghyang is the name of a sacred forest area in Tigawasa Village, Banjar District, Buleleng Regency. There are eleven sacred forests in the village, and three of them are the most important, namely Kayehan Pememan, Munduk Taulan and Kayehan Sanghyang. These three forests were once the center of the village. That is why the village was later named Tigawasa, which means 'switching power three times'.

    Tigawasa Village is one of many Bali Aga villages in the Buleleng hills. Each of those Bali Aga villages has a unique and different tradition. In Tigawasa Village itself, there is a tradition called Nedunang Kayehan Sanghyang. In ancient Balinese, kayehan means a place for bathing. In the past, in these sacred forests there were baths for holy people. Now it becomes public baths.

    The existence of Tigawasa Village is closely related to the arrival of Rsi Markandeya to Bali around the eighth century AD. The sacred forests in Tigawasa are commonly called forest temples, because the forest itself is considered a vast natural temple. This concept is exactly the same as the Sabang Daat Temple in Banjar Puakan, Taro Village, Gianyar. There, the forest is sacred and is considered a holy place even though there is no special shrine there like a temple in general. The community believes that Puakan is the place where Rsi Markandeya first cleared forest for agricultural land.

    Nedunang Kayehan Sanghyang is actually one of the core processions of the Sabha ceremony. There are several types of sabha ceremonies in Tigawasa. According to Wijana (2013), several Sabha ceremonies that are held in these sacred forests include the Sabha Ngubeng, Sabha Mamiut, Sabha Baas Sabha, Sabha Nyeta and Sabha Malguna. There are no specific days for this sabha rituals to be performed. Whenever village elders receive spiritual guidance, a Sabha ceremony will be held.

    The sabha ceremony in the sacred Tigawasa forests is a synergy of religion and nature. In religious societies, belief should be used to protect nature from damages. Sometimes, old civilizations don't always mean old-fashioned. An old civilization can actually teach us wonderful things about how beautiful the relationship between humans, God and nature is.
