        Information about Holiday or Ceremony

        Pediksaan

Where did this ceremony take place:

        In English

[EN] The name of the ritual is Pediksaan (initiation ritual), and mediksa is a verb for it. The root word is diksa, a Sanskrit abbreviation for ‘divyajnana ksapayate’ (to be released from ignorance by transcendental knowledge). So, when a person desires advancement in spiritual knowledge and become attached to the path of salvation, he must approach a spiritual master and accept the knowledge about God. Then, the spiritual master will give him a ‘diksa’, or a commencement to go through spiritual path. After one is initiated by the spiritual master, he becomes a holy man. He has right to lead a ceremony, chant Vedic mantras, and hold a sacred bell (genta). Not all initiated people will become priests. Initiation, in a broader sense, means to abandon sinful activities and engage oneself to the path of spirituality.
