The Puputan Badung Monument which is now known as Puputan Badung Square I Gusti Ngurah Made Agung is located in the heart of Denpasar, right in front of the Bali Museum. This monument is located on the northern side of Puputan Square, which used to be a battlefield during the Puputan Badung War in 1906 when the Dutch invaded Denpasar.
The word puputan means all out. So this monument is a form of commemoration and respect for the Balinese people who fought an all-out war against the Dutch. Now the Puputan Badung monument is a place of recreation for the people of Denpasar.

Monumen Puputan Badung yang sekarang terkenal dengan nama Lapangan Puputan Badung I Gusti Ngurah Made Agung terletak di jantung kota Denpasar di depan Museum Bali. Monumen ini berada di sisi utara Lapangan Puputan yang dulu merupakan medan pertempuran saat terjadi Perang Puputan Badung pada tahun 1906 ketika Belanda menyerbu Denpasar.
Kata puputan berarti habis-habisan. Jadi monumen ini adalah sebagai bentuk peringatan dan penghormatan kepada rakyat Bali yang melakukan perang habis-habisan melawan Belanda. Kini monumen Puputan Badung menjadi tempat rekreasi masyarakat kota Denpasar.
