"With what we will do on this Pagerwesi (i.e., the ritual day for self-fortification), we will proceed with the tabuh rah."
[Humble-high speech level]
NB: In Desa Bangah at this particular temple (Pura Alus Arum) on this particular day (Pagerwesi), the tabuh rah does not occur in the usual series of three ritually-sanctioned cockfights. Instead, the tradition here is to have fighting cock by-proxies made of don jarak (castor bean leaves) fitted with bamboo spurs. These spurred leaves are tossed into a makeshift cockfighting ring just outside the temple grounds, and the fight is deemed sufficient when one (or both) of the leaves are torn by the opponent's spur.| ]]
