  • term used to describe the activities of members of a banjar when they come to thee home of a family that is a member of the bajar and where a person has died. Among other things make a peti and balibit (belibit) (coffin and surrounding fence) for the body of a person who has just died by chopping bamboo culms to the proper length and splitting them as necessary. The term matetakan is onomatopoeic, imitating the sound of the chopping. However this term is commonly used to describe not just the chopping of bamboo, but, rather, to the entire obligatory visit of the banjar members. en
