While these aspects of water have been discussed in many academic and non-academic publications, qualitative understandings of relations to seawater remain somewhat unexplored in the literature. The aim of this paper is to present a preliminary review of existing literature on water and marine environments in Bali, and argue the need for further qualitative social scientific understanding of contemporary Balinese relations to seawater. A discussion of existing research on ocean-centred communities and continued tourism development in Bali’s coastal areas is intended to add to current research in Balinese studies. By presenting literature on Balinese concepts of environment, water and the ocean, this paper seeks to highlight the benefits of continued research on perceptions of environment to discussions of pollution, water scarcity and resource management. Although maritime attractions such as the temples at Tanah Lot and Uluwatu as well as several popular beach communities play a significant role in the tourism industry, this paper suggests the need to further investigate the importance of these attractions to tourists and Balinese as well as the social interpretations associated with them.cial interpretations associated with them.)

This signal can certainly then have a major effect on the image of Bali tourism which shows the wider world how the quality of tourism in Bali today.So, what are the steps that might be taken to restore the image and quality of tourism in Bali related to this phenomenon? In my opinion, there are two perspectives that we need to understand and do to overcome the above phenomenon. First, we look at it using an inside perspective that we must admit that migrants or visitors will imitate how their hosts behave. So, this perspective leads to us as hosts to be able to set a good example and be a role model for those who come to Bali to travel or to stay. The second perspective is to look from the outside. In this perspective, it is the government that then has the responsibility of making the right regulations to filter tourists who will enter Indonesia. With this opportunity, I realised how pressing the issues of coral bleaching and unsustainable fishing actually are and am now more determined to be a part of the solution. From this, I will join a coral restoration project in Les Village because no matter how small we contribute, every action makes a difference. We must think about the global implications yet, take action locally.The Balinese open up their island to all of us, foreigners and Indonesians so we can experience the island’s beauty and it is crucial for us to not take this for granted. Although this is a small percentage compared to the number of tourists, in this digital era, their actions go viral and can harm the image of Bali. While Bali is well-known for its tourism because of its beauty, kindness and approachability, I believe that rules should be enforced in order to maintain the quality of tourism that this island offers.Moreover, during my time here I’ve come to realise that it’s important to diversify and not put all our eggs in the same basket. This scripture is one of the most important ones for Saratis. A sarati is a person in charge of making banten (offerings) in various types of ceremonies. The leader of the Saratis is called Tapini or Tarpini, who is usually a woman. Tapini is also a title for a priest's wife who has knowledge and skills in making many types of offerings. In Balinese belief, the Tapinis are supervised by Bhatari Durga.Lontar Yadnya Prakerti contains many strict rules regarding procedures for making offerings. The most important thing is the ethics and cleanliness of people who make the offerings. According to this scripture, not any person are allowed to make offerings. This Kakawin was written by Mpu Tanakung (not his real name) when King Hayam Wuruk committed a great holy sacrifice (Sraddha) addressed to his late grandmother, Dyah Rajapatni Gayatri, at Majapahit palace square.There are only 12 stanzas in this kakawin, divided into three chapters. The first chapter describes the magnificence of the sraddha ceremony performed by Raja Hayam Wuruk. Many priests, royal families, nobles and all Majapahit officials were present to offer prayers and respect for the deity of Rajapatni Gayatri which was seated on a white throne.The second chapter describes various offerings from many descendants of the Majapahit aristocracy.
