  • Non-Balinese Contracting Land  + (Now many do not remember Balinese culture. Now many do not remember Balinese culture. Traditions and culture are increasingly decreasing because they have been negatively affected by the times. For example in Ubud. Many people rent their land to foreigners up to 25 years, or sell their land to people who are not Balinese to use it as a business or place to live. I don't think it's wrong, but I feel it's not good, because 25 years is quite a long time. If all the Balinese sell or rent their land to foreigners, surely many Balinese people want to buy land outside the island of Bali or many want to look for work outside Bali because in Bali there are very few places to start a business or look for work. Second, it went viral on social media about Balinese teenagers who don't like Balinese cultural traditions, namely "otot kering" accounts that insult Balinese culture regarding making ogoh-ogoh and talk about how Balinese teenagers are over-acting. This makes Balinese teenagers sad and angry. Teenagers like this must be followed up by their elders or the authorities so that teenagers like this do not become teenagers who lack tolerance and care less about Balinese cultural traditions, such as the proverb "a thorn in the flesh" which means other people feel sorrow. Then the third, about non-Hindu Balinese people selling canang, offerings, and Hindu ceremonial items. The Balinese people should feel ashamed for buying ceremonial materials from non-Hindu people. How do we preserve our customs and culture if we get them from non-Hindu people? This is not a matter of not supporting other people's efforts, but the terms “sukla” and “taksu” (sacred and spiritual force) are no longer appropriate when we make offerings.
