Description

The goal of the project is to carry out sea turtle and habitat protection activities through education, campaigning, and rescue activities for sea turtles and their habitat.

Why does the innovation or project matter?

The increasing number of sea turtle nesting points in Bali requires serious attention in handling it. There have been changes to turtle nesting sites due to the impact of abrasion and human activities, and BSTS encourages efforts to protect sea turtles in Bali by involving the participation of local communities.

How do you or your team know that the innovation or project is working (or making a positive contribution)?

In terms of sea turtle protection programs, BSTS is involved with data recording, nest relocation, and the rescue of sea turtles. BSTS also has a human education program through which they educate community groups, schools, and organizations in Bali about their work. They also have an online and physical campaign to spread their message to the greater Balinese community and tourists.

What has contributed to the innovation or project working?

What else would help the innovation or project be more successful?

BSTS is successful because of wide variety of strategies to carry out their mission and to spread their message.

Is the innovation or project self-sustaining? If not, what needs to be done for that to happen?

BSTS benefits from donations in order to help their efforts.
