What's the innovation or project?

Organic agriculture (Organic gardens and marketing of organic agricultural products)


Why does the innovation or project matter?

This initiative tries to rebrand agricultural products (as organic) and improve the market for organic farmers especially for the village of Taro and Bali in general. The initiative is expected to improve the economic outlook for farmers such that food becomes more sustainable, and offers better health possibilities. In addition, this initiative also aims to make agriculture more attractive through farming and encourages more people to learn about the origin of food.


How do you or your team know that the innovation or project is working (or making a positive contribution)?

More people are becoming attracted to organic farming. Secondly, more people are interested in playing a role in organic agriculture and want to farm sustainably while earning a profit.


What has contributed to the innovation or project working?

The availability of quality ingredients and influencing people to get more involved in organic farming.


What else would help the innovation or project be more successful?

Being able to store organic products for a longer period of time.


Is the innovation or project self-sustaining? If not, what needs to be done for that to happen?


What are the impediments to success and what if anything can help overcome these impediments?

Water that must be continuously available to irrigate the land. We need more ways to irrigate dry land with changing land and weather conditions.


What are other related innovations or projects?

Organic gardens and workshops on organic products.


What Balinese value does this initiative invoke?

Rescue of agricultural land and the subak system of irrigation and cropping patterns are manifestations Tri Hita Karana.
