                    In the early 1990s there was an interesting development in the mabebasan tradition, developing and interpreting line by line traditional poetry in the form of geguritan, kidung, or kakawin in Bali. The tradition, which is now popularly known as gita shanti, is not only carried out to accompany traditional ceremonies at ritual stages, but also appears lively as entertainment on radio and television shows or electronic stages.
