  • flower has five elliptical petals, each with a tiny sharp tip
  • fruits are clusters of brush-like pods, perhaps 25 - 30 pods per stalk
  • burning sensation produced when wet leaf is rubbed on skin
  • sometimes used as a toy by children who break off one of the small petals and pretend that it is an eye
  • plant (Lamiaceae)
  • small bush about 1 - 1.5 m. high with spear-shaped trifoliate leaves and tufts of tiny white flowers, each about 1.2 cm. diameter
