RASPY VOICE: The leaves of kayu manis are used to make an internally-taken medicine, lotoh, for cough. they are ground on a batu boreh with Balinese red onion that has been roasted and salt. Water is added, and the liquid is drunk twice a day. In case of a sore throat, the leaves are often used as an external application, called wapwap. In this case the leaves are ground with onion and fennel seed, and the mixture is applied to the throat (Fred Eiseman, Usada Bali, 2001).
