This book explains the existence of subak in Bali which has existed since the 10th century under the leadership of Rsi Markandya. The first Subak to be built was Subak Puakan which is located in Taro Village, Tegalalang District, Gianyar Regency. Rsi Markandya and all his followers worked hard to build rice fields in Bali. Subak was finally recorded in the Pandak Bandung inscription (1071) and then in the Klungkung inscription (1072).
