Bali, an island with strong culture and religion, is called a tourist island. The religion embraced by the Province of Bali is Hinduism which is sacred in its ceremonies. Every Hindu holiday in Bali, many individual prayer facilities are used, such as canang, fruit, incense, etc. This causes a very large amount of waste from used prayer facilities to be produced. Based on waste data for 2024 in Bali, the organic waste produced after praying reaches an average of 2.4 kg/day. Of course, this is a serious problem regarding the cleanliness of Bali Island as the Island of the Gods. The solution that can be implemented is to utilize organic waste left over from prayers. The use that can be made is the manufacture of ecoenzymes. The benefits of ecoenzymes are very diverse and very useful for Bali Province and even the world. One of the benefits of Ecoenzym is that it cleans river water by just pouring it on a large scale. This activity can be carried out together in a village. The village in Bali that has carried out this positive activity is Buahan Village on Lake Batur, Bangli on January 29 2023.  +
These are the ways to reduce waste in religious activities: 1. Buy offering snacks at bulk store. If there is no bulk store in your town, you still can buy it at traditional market and supermarket. But, you have to bring the stuffs such as jar, container and so on. Use them once again during the activity at temple. If it is difficult enough for you, you can buy the traditional ones. Balinese traditional snacks already eco-friendly because the packagings come from organic like cornhusk, coconut leaves, banana leaves, and so on. 2. Buy offering snacks and fruits that our family likes is a must. So, it will be no food waste. Even, there is still leftover, you can feed it to the pets like dog, pig, maggot, and so on. Other way is compose them all. 3. Bring your keben, goodie bag, holywater jar, incenses with free single use plastic packaging and tumbler during your activity at temple. If there are biopori and sumur kompos at the temple, put the used flowers, kwangen, and incenses to the holes.  +
This video encourages us to care for the environment by reducing paper waste in places of worship. In Blimbingsari Village, we propose an eco-friendly solution for worship services by using projectors or digital liturgies. This way, we can worship without leaving piles of waste behind. This small step not only keeps our worship space clean but also helps preserve the earth for future generations. Let’s come together to create a cleaner environment and a memorable worship experience in a greener way. Enjoy the video, and we hope it inspires you to join the movement to reduce waste in your place of worship.  +
To reduce waste in religious activities, you can: 1. Use more environmentally friendly and biodegradable materials, such as banana leaf plates. 2. Encourage and raise awareness among the community to pay more attention to the environment. 3. Reduce the use of plastics, such as disposable plastic spoons and straws. 4. Invite the community to collaborate in cleaning the temple. 5. Reuse plastic bags from offerings repeatedly to reduce plastic waste or replace plastic bags with reusable cloth bags.  +
Efforts and solutions that can be implemented at Temple include replacing the use of plastic in offerings with bowls, tote bags, or reusable bags that can be carried by the worshippers. Additionally, offerings such as kwangen, flowers, and incense brought from home can be taken back after use. Providing separate waste bins at the ceremony site for organic, non-organic, and plastic waste can remind worshippers to dispose of their trash properly. Worshippers are also encouraged to use water containers like jars. Conducting awareness campaigns for worshippers about the importance of environmental preservation can help reduce activities that generate waste. Implementing sanctions for worshippers who litter in the inner area of the temple and the outer area of the temple.  +
I think reducing waste in religious activities is a good responsibility. Therefore, food and clothing must be the staples of our lives. With plastic waste, we can make a choice for reusable materials or for reusable containers, such as baskets in the trash. In the ceremony, it is best to throw away materials that can revive waste, hiding anyone as a wash. Digestible foods are more likely to be traditional menus that consume natural ingredients, thereby reducing plastic waste in food. Creating this awareness in the community, or providing information at events, makes possible things in religious practice that can reduce waste, both in ceremonies and in statements about healthy living.  +
Om Swastiastu, so here are some opinions and efforts that we can do to solve the problem of garbage in Balinese temples after prayer: 1. Educate Friends and Family: * Information: Share information about the negative impact of waste on the environment and the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of the temple. * Example: Be an example by always throwing garbage in the right place and bring your own shopping bag when going to the temple. 2. Collaboration with the Community: * Mutual Cooperation: Participate in mutual cooperation activities to clean the temple with the local community. * Creative Ideas: Come up with creative ideas to process the waste left over from prayer, such as making handicrafts. 3. Monitoring and Evaluation: * Monitoring: Monitor regularly to see how far your efforts have been successful. * Evaluate: Evaluate the program in action and make improvements as necessary. Addition: * Collaboration with traditional villages: Invite cooperation with traditional villages to obtain support and facilities needed to implement this program. That's all from me, thank you Om Shanti Shanti Shanti Om  +
In my opinion, to reduce waste in religious activities, it is important for us to appeal to the public about the use of natural, environmentally friendly materials during religious ceremonies, this can be done to replace plastic waste which is usually used in offerings. Apart from this, there is also a regulation by the Governor of Bali regarding plastic waste restrictions number 97 of 2018. Therefore, we can encourage the public to use reusable containers during ceremonies, such as bamboo caterpillar bowls and other tools. Then education about waste management to the community also needs to be carried out, so that they are willing to sort organic and inorganic waste after the ceremony is finished.  +
My opinion on how to reduce the amount of waste during religious ceremonies in Bali is by using natural and eco-friendly materials. For example, ceremonial items such as coconut leaves, regular leaves, bamboo, and flowers are better to use than plastic or synthetic materials, as natural materials decompose easily and do not cause environmental pollution. Additionally, avoid using single-use plastics like plastic bags or styrofoam, and instead choose cloth bags or containers that can be reused multiple times. After the religious activities are over, it is very important to clean up the remains of the ceremony and dispose of them in the provided trash bins, while also separating organic and non-organic waste. Organic waste can be processed into compost, while non-organic waste such as plastic or used bottles can be recycled. If the waste is not managed, it will certainly accumulate. Continuous public awareness campaigns can be conducted to educate people about the negative impacts of waste on the environment and the cleanliness of temples. By applying these methods, we can help preserve the environment.  +
As Balinese Hindus, of course, in carrying out religious activities, a lot of waste is produced, both organic and anorganic waste. For example, during the melasti ceremony, a lot of waste is generated in the ceremony, both organic waste such as ceremonial facilities and inorganic waste consumed by the community. This causes a buildup of waste in the area, causing environmental damage. Therefore, we as Hindus must think about efforts to reduce this waste. In my opinion, after performing a religious ceremony we can collect the waste generated from the ceremony. After that, it is separated between organic and anorganic waste, for organic waste we can utilize it as an ecoenzyme and then anorganic waste is taken to the landfill.  +
According to my point of view, my way of reducing the garbage caused by religious activities is in my neighborhood. Let me take the example of the temple of Uluwatu. The uluwatu temple has a policy that is not allowed to bring single-use plastic into the temple area. With this policy, we have indirectly reduced and separated plastic waste from organic waste. We need to know that garbage used for hindu religious activities is mostly organic garbage. With the presence of organic waste, we can reduce it to compost fertilizer, this fertilizer is very beneficial for the environment and can reduce waste from religious activities. I hope all temples in Bali and outside Bali follow to implement the rules in Uluwatu temple  +
Religious ceremonies in Bali create a lot of waste. Here are several ways you can reduce this waste. 1. We should not use disposable items. For example, plastic, when we go to Nunas Tirta we have to use a jar, and when we go to the temple we have to use a reusable bag. 2. We must throw the incense in the place provided, so that it burns out. 3. We have to sort organic waste, this organic waste can be used to make eco-enzymes which are useful for nature. 4. We must use organic materials for religious ceremonies such as coconut leaves and semat.  +
Ceremonial facilities and waste are like two very close friends. Wherever there is a yadnya that uses ceremonial facilities, there will definitely be rubbish there. The bigger the yadnya that is held, the more waste is produced. This phenomenon is very often found in temple environments in Bali. This problem occurs because the Balinese people lack awareness of the cleanliness of temples. To overcome this, we must introspect ourselves. When you have finished praying, the prayer waste must be collected and thrown into the trash. Likewise, after offering the offerings, do not place the canang that has been offered in the offering place. Finally, as a form of devotion to God, we must maintain the cleanliness of "His Temple" by not throwing shopping or food waste carelessly in the temple. If all these things have been implemented, surely the temple cleaning staff will never complain and as a result the close relationship between ceremonial facilities and waste will soon be ended.  +
Om swastyastu Dear sir/madam jury And my respected audience Before I start my oration, I want to say puja and thanksgiving first to God Almighty (Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa) because it is with His grace that I can give an oration now Regarding the processing of used prayer waste at the temple by giving a speech, I would like to convey ideas and opinions for managing waste used for prayer at the Batur Temple, namely by having an entrance fee to the temple itself, just ask for IDR 1000-2000 per young person and adult, collecting this fee. The aim is to use it to find more land and increase the number of workers, because when more and more people come to pray at the temple, more workers can be obtained to make work easier. In my opinion, this uses a money management system by channeling it into new jobs and energy. new jobs, apart from reducing the number of losses and reducing the burden of work, this will also reduce the number of unemployed in the Bali area. By giving this speech, I really hope that my speech can be heard because, to achieve something better, we must have the courage to make changes and decisions. I hope that the speech I delivered can be useful for ongoing problems. Finally, I close with Parama Santhi, Om Santhi, Santhi, Santhi Om.  +

The right solution to reduce waste in Hindu religious activities is to educate people about the importance of protecting the environment according to the teachings of dharma. The use of natural materials such as leaves and collective awareness, we can worship more cleanly and still respect nature.  +

In these increasingly concerning times, we all must protect the environment. One way to do this is by taking concrete positive actions. Religious activities, especially for Hindus, are inevitably associated with the use of equipment and disposable materials that produce waste. Therefore, it is only fitting for us as Hindus to contribute to preserving the natural environment, particularly during religious ceremonies, by: * Using natural materials such as banana leaves, bamboo, or recycled paper, or using reusable shopping bags. * Separating leftover offerings (organic waste) from non-organic waste. * The temple provides a place to make compost from organic waste. * Cooperating with the government to obtain proper waste disposal sites. * Always carrying a tumbler to reduce the use of plastic bags, plastic bottles, and plastic cups. 'A temple is not only a place of worship, but also a place to learn about the world. Let us maintain cleanliness in accordance with religious teachings, and pay homage to our ancestors.'"  +
