This book traces the development of modern Balinese literature from its inception to the latest developments in the 2000s. It turns out that in the 1920s and 1920s, many short stories in Balinese written by teachers were printed by Dutch colonial publishers to meet the need for textbooks in elementary schools in Bali. It is these short stories that must be recognized as a milestone in the early birth of modern Balinese literature. In this book, a number of these short stories are published together with their translations in Indonesian.
