Keben

  • square basket with fitted cover, made of thin, good quality, tightly woven, split bamboo
  • term is used differently in different parts of Bali
  • usually a keben is distinguished from a sok in that the latter has no lid and is less alus, i.e. woven less tightly and made of coarser, rougher bamboo than a keben
  • valued objects such as offerings are always carried in a keben rather than a sok
  • may be decorated
