Such system has been common since the reign of King Dharmawangsa in Panjalu. Therefore, this palm-leaf text was probably translated into ancient Javanese around that era.</br></br>Wrespati (Wrihaspati) was a great rsi who became a teacher of the gods. He is a brahmana who rules Planet Jupiter. Therefore, if Planet Jupiter approaches the moon, Hindus consider it a good day to start learning spiritual knowledge. In Wrespati Tattwa, there is a dialog between Rsi Wrihaspati and Lord Shiva, the ruler of Mount Kailasa. The content of the dialog includes the existence of cosmic consciousness or cetana, and cosmic darkness or acetana.</br></br>Cetana and acetana cause various types of differences in the universe. Cetana and acetana also cause an increase and deterioration of the mind. Because of increased awareness, humans reach higher planets after death, which is known as swargaloka (heavens). Conversely, when human consciousness degenerates, they sink into terrible planets called naraka (hell). So, heaven and hell are on other planets, not on Earth.</br></br>Many people mistakenly interpret the teachings of Wrespati Tattwa and conclude that heaven and hell only exist in the mind. This is a wrong conclusion. In fact, if the text of Wrespati Tattwa is interpreted more deeply, the mind is cause of humans’ going to heaven, hell or achieve liberation. The mind binds man in the chains of desires, and without intelligence and knowledge, man will be made degenerated by his own desires.</br></br>Lontar Wrespati Tattwa also teaches about how to achieve liberation. According to this text, liberation can only be achieved if one is freed from illusions. Illusion means to think that he is a gross body and think that this material nature is his eternal abode. Therefore, according to the essence of Lontar Yadnya Prakerti, offerings to God and the demigods must be clean, fresh and pure.</br></br>There are some basic ethics for a Sarati according to Lontar Yadnya Prakerti. First, a sarati must be clean and pure in body, mind and words. Secondly, Sarati must not forget to give charity to a brahmin (priest). The magical places are in the form of forests on clouds, highways, wells, darkness, strange creatures, to deep rivers and mud. The spirit will also cross a bridge. However, subaks now face some problems due to low farmers’ income from paddy farming. This paper describes the social capital performance of the subak system and attempts to identify ways to strengthen the social capital for agricultural development. The study selected the subak of Guama as its site because the government implemented a pilot project on agribusiness development in this subak in 2002. Key informants and samples were drawn during the survey and observation for data collection. Data were analyzed using descriptive methods. Results showed that social capital within the subak system consisted of mutual trust, social norms,</br>and social networking. The three elements run simultaneously for the agricultural, irrigation, and</br>agribusiness activities, including ritual ceremonies within the subak system. The social capital in the subak system for agricultural development, particularly rice farming, can be strengthened by: (1) conducting intensive extension and training activities using participatory approaches; (2) providing economic stimulants to encourage farmers to sustain their agribusiness activities; and (3) facilitating partnership activities between the subak and other agribusiness institutions.subak and other agribusiness institutions.)
