Based on a circular letter from the provincial government, all villages and schools throughout Bali, are to carry out the Balinese Language Month (Bulan Bahasa Bali). There are various activities that can be carried out, such as competitions, festivals, seminars, literary appreciation stages related to Balinese language, literature and script. Usually the activities that are definitely held by the community are competitions. there are competitions for telling stories, giving speeches, developing mates, writing scripts, writing lontar, singing Balinese pop songs, and others. Through this competition, we can find out the potentials of the Balinese people in learning the Balinese language, especially children and teenagers. They are very skilled at speaking Balinese, so they can win the championship. Do people want to learn Balinese because they are asked to take part in a competition or is it just for the sake of winning? Hopefully not only because of that. The thing that is expected, the people of Bali want to learn Balinese language everyday, not just to get a champion. So that after winning, you don't stop learning Balinese. Bali has taught me some lessons that I will keep with me in other stages of life.

An important lesson I’ve learned is that every place presents you with an opportunity to grow, you just need the courage to say yes! Bali gives everyone the opportunity to explore the outdoors (either in the mountains or underwater), and this gives everyone the chance to gain a new skill, make new friends or develop a love for the natural world. Recently, I have gotten the courage and determination to say yes to become a certified Open Water Diver.
This experience has been incredibly rewarding, as I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, my friendships grew with those I trained with and my eyes were opened to the beauty of the underwater world. With this opportunity, I realised how pressing the issues of coral bleaching and unsustainable fishing actually are and am now more determined to be a part of the solution. From this, I will join a coral restoration project in Les Village because no matter how small we contribute, every action makes a difference. We must think about the global implications yet, take action locally.

The Balinese open up their island to all of us, foreigners and Indonesians so we can experience the island’s beauty and it is crucial for us to not take this for granted. I realise that a society which hugely depends on tourism has a risk, therefore respecting the customs and traditions in Bali should be a no brainer, as we would hope and expect the same of others if they are visiting our home. As of 25th March 2023, 76 foreigners have been deported from

Bali for reasons that range from overstaying visas to committing crimes. Although this is a small percentage compared to the number of tourists, in this digital era, their actions go viral and can harm the image of Bali. While Bali is well-known for its tourism because of its beauty, kindness and approachability, I believe that rules should be enforced in order to maintain the quality of tourism that this island offers.

Moreover, during my time here I’ve come to realise that it’s important to diversify and not put all our eggs in the same basket. During the pandemic, tourism was at a standstill which hit the people and local economy dramatically. Therefore, the Balinese have adapted to diversify their work portfolio such as farming, establishing small businesses or fishing. This lesson will carry on with me in the future, because it has shown me that trying different opportunities will help us to continue growing and adapting to an ever changing world.

I will continue to learn more lessons in Bali and am grateful for all the opportunities and experiences that I’ve gotten alongside the lessons that have come with it.ngside the lessons that have come with it.)

We as citizens of Indonesia must know the Indonesian motto, namely Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which means different but still one as stated on the Garuda Pancasila symbol. Maybe if students have any Balinese language assignment, they can open the BASAbali Wiki site. From dictionaries, word games, to articles—they are here. This website also often holds Balinese language competitions called Wikithons. A Wikithon stands for wiki marathon. It is a place to argue about public issues, and to talk about the most appropriate solution to the problems of society in the world. Communities can argue, improve their proficiency in Balinese, and can also get money if they win. Most importantly, all opinions regarding public issues can be submitted here and heard by the government.

The purpose of the BASAbali Wiki Website is indeed very good. But we need to think about it together, is it only when there is a wikithon, can people have an opinion? Then if the topic or issue of Withton is not felt by the community, how can the community have an opinion? So, if BASAbali Wiki really wants to become a platform where people can think about what’s around them, and can convey their feelings to the government, the BASAbali Wiki website should make a feature “Ngiring Masuara” or in Indonesian it’s called “Let’s Talk”. If you click on the “Ngiring Masuara” button, people can write their feelings about everything around them, what public issues will be resolved, and everything that will be conveyed to the government. Not only writing, but there you can also fill in photos, videos, locations, and the name of the service to be addressed.

For example, if there is a puddle or a broken road, it can cause harm to passers-by, especially at night. People who see this can write in the “Ngiring Masuara” feature. There, the public can complain to the Public Works Department and complete it with photos of the damaged roads. Then the BASAbali Wiki team would be in charge of making sure that the people’s writings on this topic can reach the correct officers.

There are several problems that are often encountered on the road, but we don’t know where to complain. Hopefully, BASAbali Wiki can spark people’s enthusiasm to pay attention to the environment and public issues. I hope BASAbali Wiki can connect to the government about people’s feelings and opinions. This is an illustration that it is underestimated in the process of making a book. Unfortunately books like this are used in schools. How can students absorb the lessons? How to awaken students' interest in studying Balinese script? Actually, this palm-leaf text is a Sanskrit text that is thought to originate from the tenth century. Possibly, this Sanskrit text is also a copy of more authentic Puranas. The Sanskrit text in Wrespati Tattwa consists of 74 verses and each verse is given a translation and commentary in ancient Javanese language. Such system has been common since the reign of King Dharmawangsa in Panjalu. Therefore, this palm-leaf text was probably translated into ancient Javanese around that era.

Wrespati (Wrihaspati) was a great rsi who became a teacher of the gods. He is a brahmana who rules Planet Jupiter. Therefore, if Planet Jupiter approaches the moon, Hindus consider it a good day to start learning spiritual knowledge. In Wrespati Tattwa, there is a dialog between Rsi Wrihaspati and Lord Shiva, the ruler of Mount Kailasa. The content of the dialog includes the existence of cosmic consciousness or cetana, and cosmic darkness or acetana.

Cetana and acetana cause various types of differences in the universe. Cetana and acetana also cause an increase and deterioration of the mind. Because of increased awareness, humans reach higher planets after death, which is known as swargaloka (heavens). Conversely, when human consciousness degenerates, they sink into terrible planets called naraka (hell). So, heaven and hell are on other planets, not on Earth.

Many people mistakenly interpret the teachings of Wrespati Tattwa and conclude that heaven and hell only exist in the mind. This is a wrong conclusion. In fact, if the text of Wrespati Tattwa is interpreted more deeply, the mind is cause of humans’ going to heaven, hell or achieve liberation. The mind binds man in the chains of desires, and without intelligence and knowledge, man will be made degenerated by his own desires.

Lontar Wrespati Tattwa also teaches about how to achieve liberation. According to this text, liberation can only be achieved if one is freed from illusions. Illusion means to think that he is a gross body and think that this material nature is his eternal abode. Such awareness can only be achieved by a process called yoga. Yoga does not mean merely gymnastic movements. However, judging from the current condition of Balinese culture, it is now increasingly dim. Will the Maligia Marebu Bumi ceremony still hold Balinese culture? Because many young people have left Balinese culture, forgetting the Balinese language. Then how. I hope the government can listen to my advice. My suggestion is that the government must infuse Balinese culture to young people, by developing the entertainment industry. Countries like Japan and Korea can maintain their culture because young people watch their own culture. Most young people in Indonesia, especially in Bali watch foreign films and play foreign entertainment with a foreign culture, so that young Balinese have an interest in foreign cultures, and end up having the dream of wanting to live in a foreign country. If the government wants to develop the entertainment industry, then young people will be aware of the culture they have, so they will aspire to develop their own country. In addition to solving internal problems, the entertainment industry is very profitable. With this, Balinese culture will be increasingly recognized by the world and its influence can match Japanese and Korean culture. Then can this be realized? The Entertainment Industry can be anything, such as Movies, Animation, Games, Songs, Etc. We must understand these five things and have them within each of us. According to Setara Institute researchers, one of the trends throughout 2022 is the continued increase in cases of disturbances to places of worship. Then, there are other trends such as violations of freedom of religion and belief. Of the 333 acts of violation of freedom of religion and belief, 94 were mostly committed by residents (quoted from the @voaindonesia upload).
With the cases that occurred, the meaning of harmony faded. It is only spoken in the mouth but cannot be felt in reality. The motto ‘harmony is cool’ is, in my opinion, not quite right, because Basuki Tjahaya Purnama once said “If an official is not corrupt, they do not need to be respected because that is indeed their oath of office.” It’s the same with harmony. We must understand, own and do it to our fellow human beings. From the smallest scale, namely in the family, we must provide education about harmony, as well as at school. This is the most basic foundation in character building. In society, we must also have the courage to be agents of change, setting an example that whatever religion we adhere to (which has been recognized by the Indonesian government) is good. We should not gossip, for example when we are working late at the office to replace a colleague who is having a holiday service. Unity can be shown by no discrimination among friends and being willing to get along with any friends at school and agreeing to help for the religious holidays. Also, we can start simple benevolence by saying ‘sorry’, ‘thank you’ and ‘please’ to anyone.
These things are just small things that we can definitely do. • The Importance of Preserving the Existence of the Balinese Language as the Cultural Center of Bali + (As we know, Balinese is the mother tongue As we know, Balinese is the mother tongue which must be preserved. Along with the development of globalization, the use of Balinese language is decreasing. This decline is causing concern to many parties because the Balinese language is one of the roots of Balinese culture. The Balinese language as the mother tongue or first language for most Balinese people has an important role, namely as a symbol of pride, a symbol of identity, and is widely used as a means of communication in various activities within the household and outside the household which includes various social life activities Balinese people. But now of course this is not the case, because precisely what becomes the mother tongue for Balinese children is Indonesian, while Balinese is a second foreign language for them. The use of Balinese among young people now seems to have started to decrease interest because it is considered difficult and tends to be old-fashioned so that the interest is decreasing. This is of course a problem where the Balinese language is now getting less portion and attention from its users, shifted by languages that are considered modern.
